Are you looking for your next girls’ weekend getaway destination? How about going to the city with one of the largest shopping malls in the country, not to mention fantastic dining options?
Book your next girls’ trip to the beautiful Minneapolis, MN and shop until you drop at the Mall of America! No matter what type of shopping you want to do, there is a store for you there! And not only that, but there are also AMAZING restaurants, attractions, and amusement park rides to boot!
In this Guide To The Ultimate Girls’ Weekend In Minneapolis, we will cover it all from accommodations to dining to even our favorite products for the perfect gift bag!
FUEL-UP FOR THE TRIP
Before the trip even starts, we need some MOM FUEL. AKA coffee! Fuel up with your Storyville coffee, brewed in your Capresso coffee maker. When it’s hot and ready, pour it into your ORCA travel mug to keep it hot for hours (literally, HOURS!), and then throw some KIND bars and Munk Pack snacks in your mom-bag on the way out the door.
WHAT TO PACK
Perhaps the hardest part of a girls’ trip? Packing the suitcase! If you are going to spend the day walking through the Mall of America, you are going to need some COMFY shoes, my friends! Look no further than MOX, our favorite flats. Not only are they adorable, “grown up jellies”, they are SUPER comfortable, which is most important to us moms, right??
Another favorite accessory is this simple, Gojana bar necklace, which can be worn with a simple t-shirt and jeans, or can even be paired with a formal outfit for a nice, elegant touch.
And after the days’ activities are done and we head back to the hotel, the idea of hitting up the pool might be a tad bit terrifying, but fear no more, friends. We have the perfect bathing suit for you! This Zoe one-piece suit is literally flattering on all body-types, has some great detail in the criss-cross back, and most importantly, is super comfy! (Sensing a comfy theme? Yes!)
WHERE TO SLEEP
Where to stay? Location, location, location. The Best Western Plus Bloomington is literally BLOCKS from the Mall of America, and you can walk there quickly, no matter the weather.
The Best Western Plus is affordable, has on-site dining, and is not only that close to the Mall of America, but also happens to be just a stone’s throw from the airport, too!
And last, but most certainly not least, the Best Western Plus Bloomington has an AMAZING indoor pool area! If your kids and hubbies happen to come along, it is the PERFECT place for them to hang out and play while you and your girlfriends are out on the town!
WHERE TO EAT
For a hands-on dining experience, be sure to visit Cooks of Crocus Hill. Not only do they have an amazing array of kitchen gadgets, small appliances and tools, as well as super yummy snacks and condiments that are perfect for gifts (they even have an entire section full of assorted olive oil and vinegars that you can sample!), but they also offer some extraordinary cooking classes. Their chefs put together delicious recipes and have all of the ingredients on-hand and ready to go, so you can put everything together and then (the best part) EAT IT! A great activity for a girls’ weekend, for sure!
If you are looking for a yummy lunch in-between fun, find the closest Piada Italian Street Food for a fresh and healthy lunch. The menu includes something for every palette, such as Piadas, Pasta Bowls, and Chopped Salads.
WHAT TO DRINK
WHAT TO DO
Remember those attractions we mentioned at the Mall of America? Fly Over America is one you CAN’T miss! Think of an Omnimax on steroids, people. The screen is ginormous, your seats move out to view it even closer, and the floor drops out too! You literally feel like you are flying over all of these amazing U.S. cities! They even spritz you with water and pump out scents (evergreens, flowers, etc.) to make you truly feel like you are THERE! A definite MUST-visit!
If you’ve never had a macaroon and not just any macaroon, one from Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe, you should! And if you haven’t tried to make one of these delicious treats with friends, well Amy will teach you! Schedule a Macaroon Making Class on your visit to Minneapolis. The class is so much fun – plus, you get to take what you make!
WHAT TO GIVE
When planning the ultimate girls’ weekend, definitely consider putting together fun gift bags! Make it a team effort and get everyone involved by each bringing 1 – 2 items to put in the bags. This is a great way to not only give gifts, but to give items that will make your friends think of you even if you don’t live close to each other, and to remember the awesome weekend you shared!
