The City Moms Blog Network’s and the Sister Site’s primary purpose is to connect women to one another, and to valuable parenting information relevant to the experience of raising kids and building a community. As such, all blog content should follow the following guidelines (made easy to remember because they each refer back to a word in our name):
CITY We truly want to be “the” resource for moms nationally, no matter where they live. While our Sister Sites truly focus on building community within the cities they live and featuring the unique parenting perspectives of that community, we at CMBN want to reach EVERY mom no matter their geo-graphic location.
MOMS It may sound obvious, but CMBN sites’ targeted audience is made up of moms (and largely those with babies and young kids). Content should remain under the broad category of parenting writing, within which you have a ton of subtopics to choose from: the experience of being a mom, stages and phases of babies and kids, tips to make life with kids more fun/easier/better, and home management strategies specific to moms.
BLOG By definition, a blog is a web log, or journal of sorts. Blogging has evolved to the point that almost anything published on the web fits the category, but CMBN should aim for the personal, confessional, and interactive/community style of blog, rather than a more journalistic or editorial style (in other words, you are diarists, not reporters). CMBN site readers respond to personal stories, to real life experiences, and to discussion-oriented posts where comments and feedback are encouraged and supportive in nature. By focusing your content in the three areas described above, you will find a unique blogging voice that comes to be valued; you’ll also find that within these broad areas there is no shortage of topics to write about!

How will content be selected?
Submissions will truly be based on the following: strong writing, use of grammar, underlying message and adherence to CMBN Content Guidelines.
We will always ask ourselves, will this story help connect our readers? Will it leave them feeling a sense of community?
Stories must be inclusive and not polarizing.
What kind of content will you not publish?
While we do encourage stories of all varieties, we do have a few policies and guidelines we must adhere to. Stories we will likely not run are:
- Stories that heavily promote a specific brand, with affiliate links.
- Stories that are more op-ed than journalistic in nature.
- Stories that are judgmental or might leave our readers feeling attacked.
- Stories that are not generally positive in nature or try to divide moms versus connect and unite them.
- Stories that have been shared on the Internet or in written work elsewhere.
How many blog posts can I submit?
If you’ve got stories to share, we want to hear them! We won’t limit you on the number of posts you submit, however we can’t promise to run them all at once!
When will I hear if my post will be published?
We will do our very best to respond within a week of your submission. We do reserve the right to hang on to a post for 6 months, before deciding on a publication date. If we do not end up running the post on CityMomsBlog.com, it will be returned to you for your own use elsewhere.
Is there compensation for submitted content?
City Moms Blog Network writers are eligible for $50 paid compensation if a post reaches 25,000 unique pageviews within 30 days. We know this may seem like a high number, but we will help promote your story as well as lean on our ever-growing Network of Sister Sites across the country to help spread your voice!
At the end of 30 days, we will notify you with your total pageviews and if you are eligible for the $50 payment.
Your chances for payment increase the more you share your story as well! It’s all about networking, so be sure you are sharing your published content through your social channels, email your community of moms and use good ‘ol word-of-mouth!
Is there a contributor badge I can put on my site?
How do you promote your content?
We have a solid promotion plan in place for every blog post that publishes on CityMomsBlog.com. Each post gets featured on our homepage as well as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and if applicable Pinterest profiles. Post will also be featured in our weekly newsletter that goes out to over 25,000 subscribers!
Can I share my published story?
Absolutely! The best way to share your article is through your own network! We heavily encourage you to share your CMBN post with your personal network of friends and family as well as through any blog you may own or operate!
Please feel free to tag @CityMomsBlog when sharing to social platforms!
Can I link to my blog?
