Do you have another job besides your Sister Site? If so, is it outside the home? Is it full-time or part-time?

Thanks to the growth of NOMB, not any more! When we launched NOMB, I worked full-time. 6 months into NOMB I was able to go down to part-time, which was partially a family lifestyle decision. After the birth of our 3rd (so 2 years in), I was able to quit altogether. I absolutely LOVE that I am my own boss now.

Are you an early bird or a night owl? (A.K.A. When do you get most of your work done?)

My ideal day is waking before the children for a quick workout and then some alone time with my iced coffee and laptop. I much rather “get ahead of” the day than play catch up.

In 5 words, what does a typical day in your life as a Site Owner AND a mommy look like?

unpredictable | rewarding | intense | flexible | fun

What would your tagline be?

Will blog for wine and good food.

What made you decide to join City Moms Blog Network as a Sister Site Owner?

While New Orleans had a parenting magazine, it lacked an online community geared specifically at moms. The thought of providing an outlet for mothers to gather – both online and off – was really appealing to me. I loved the idea of meeting new people and connecting them with valuable resources in our city.

In your opinion what is the biggest benefit to being part of City Moms Blog Network?

At the end of the day, when all is said and done, it is twofold :: the ability to truly own and direct a business that is ours to mold however we want, as well as the deep friendships I’ve made. I would never have met several of my closest friends if it weren’t for NOMB. That sounds trite, but it is absolutely true. Our Sales Coordinator – who has been with us almost since the beginning – is moving out of state and I can say that my own children will miss her family as much as our team. There are a lot of crazy moments when you’re a small business owner, but being surrounded by passionate, smart and driven women means that you always have someone willing to lend a hand, idea or laugh.

How do you maintain or try to maintain a work-life balance?

This is hard. Very very hard. For me, the key has been getting up before my children and setting aside defined work time. Nap time is more sacred than ever if you own a CMBN site, that’s for sure!

What is the greatest lesson you have learned as a Sister Site Owner?

There is more than one way to do absolutely everything in life

What is the most rewarding thing about being a Sister Site Owner?

Hands down the most rewarding thing is when a local mom messages or emails us words of affirmation such as “we never could have afforded to take our children to X, so thank you very much for the giveaway” or when a local charity sends a thank you note for the hundreds of diapers / school supplies / canned goods that were collected at an event. CMBN sites are positively affecting the cities in which they are located on a deep and meaningful level … and that is just very cool to watch and be part of.

What piece of advice would you give someone thinking about becoming a Sister Site Owner with CMBN?

If you thrive on problem solving, enjoy meeting new people and are up for the most rewarding and challenging job you’ll ever have … do it right now! If you ever wanted to find a job where you would use everything you’ve learned in school and parenting, this may be it. For real.

Finish this sentence :: I have never…

been to Europe. Insert sad face.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?

Fountain diet cokes. Yes, I’ve read about artificial sweetener.

I work full time as Controller of a property management company.

Early bird

The community among all of the sister sites and the shared support because we are all on this motherhood journey together.

How do you maintain or try to maintain a work-life balance?

I try to start each day with my devotional and coffee and focus on one thing at a time.

Learn when to let go & delegate to team members who are ready & willing to help.

What is the most rewarding thing about being a Sister Site Owner?

Connecting with moms both in New Orleans and through our sister sites and realizing that even though our parenting styles may be different, we all just want to do the best job as moms that we possibly can.

Set your goals before you begin of what you hope to accomplish in the first year. Then put an action plan to place to make that happen.
